The Applied Inverse Problems (AIP) 2015 was held in Helsinki, Finland in May.  I was invited to give a talk in a two-part mini symposium on “Inverse problems in atmospheric remote sensing”, organized by Johanna Tamminen, Andreas Hilboll and Emily King.  This mini symposium had many interesting and stimulating talks, as did the conference as a whole. The title of my talk was “CO2 retrievals for the OCO-2 instrument: Full MCMC exploration using a surrogate forward-model”.

As an added bonus to the trip across the pond, my colleague Amy Braverman and I visited the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) where our hosts, Johanna Tamminen and Marko Laine, introduced us to various research projects at FMI.
